The Center for Emerging and Tropical Diseases at Manipal is a leading institution dedicated to studying infectious diseases prevalent in tropical regions. Established with a vision to address the growing concerns surrounding emerging pathogens, the center boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary team of experts. The center conducts extensive research on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics, and treatment of melioidosis. Research efforts are directed towards understanding the genetic diversity of Burkholderia pseudomallei strains, identifying virulence factors, and elucidating host-pathogen interactions. The center is actively involved in vaccine development and the exploration of novel therapeutic strategies to combat melioidosis. For Delivery research, we aim to develop disease models to study host pathogen interactions. We work on environmental surveillance and establishing biobanks. We are in the process to develop POC tests and deliver for early detection at the PHC and SHC settings.
